HIKING ROUTES IN THE DOLOMITES
LAKE BASTE

This is a little but striking lake between the Dolomites, that is one of the Unesco natural heritage sites.
It is located at the bottom of the “Mondeval” mountain on the Mondeval de Sora plateau, in the San Vito Di Cadore district.
The lake is easily reachable in about 30 minutes from the Giau Pass, following the direction to Forcella Giau.
In 1987 a mesolithic tumb of a hunter was found in Mondeval de Sora which is about 7500 years old.
All the findings can be viewed at the Vittorino Cazzetta Museum in Selva di Cadore.
