PUSTERLE

Between 1915 and 1917 the Italian and Austrian armies challenged each other turning Cadore and the Belluno Dolomites into a great battleground. Kilometers of trenches were dug from the valley bottom up to the peaks and numerous bunkers were also built and used.
Mountain names like il Massiccio delle Tofane, I Lagazuoi, il Col di Lana, il Monte Piana and le Tre Cime di Lavaredo began to be known all over Italy for the bloody battles that were fought on their peaks.
